Philippe Lavielle is an accomplished entrepreneur and a veteran of the industrial biotechnology sector. He currently holds the position of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Fermentalg (Euronext FALG), a French based industrial biotech company specializing in microalgae derived products.

Leading to July 2014 Philippe was President and CEO of Virdia Inc., a venture backed biotechnology company specializing in the production of carbohydrates from cellulosic biomass.
Prior to joining Virdia, Philippe Lavielle worked for over 20 years in a number of executive roles at Genencor Inc., the US based world leader in industrial biotechnology (acquired by DuPont in 2011), where his responsibilities as executive vice president included the areas of renewable fuels and bio-chemicals.

Since 2016 Philippe serves as on the board of directors of Clara Foods Inc., a San Francisco Bay area venture capital-backed company working towards a disruptive advance in food technology by creating the world’s first animal-free egg white. He also serves as Chairman of the board at TargEDys SA, a French biotech start-up dedicated to finding novel solutions in the field of appetite control.
